Purpose of the course
A basic pattern is a plain draft, no particular style or design, except for a few vertical seams placed here and there.The basic is related to every garment in your clothing collection.It represents the very foundation upon which patternmaking, fit and design is based.It helps the patternmaker understands the fit of a garment relative to the pattern slope. On completion of this module, the learner is able to develop all basic patterns that relateto all garments hanging in your wardrobe such as :
• Basic Skirt
• Basic Long Bodice Block
• One Piece Sleeve Block
• Basic Trouser Block
Specific outcomes of the course
The Patternmaker develops analytical skills, by analyzing the creative detailing of each design.
1. Measuring Techniques; Measurements are a major factor in development of the basic set and serve as the foundation for pattern drafting, draping and development of designs.
2. Design analysis; analytical study of differences between the basic garment and the design.
3. Patternmaking Principles; Designs are generally created without knowledge that certain principles are the basis for the creation. It is the patternmaker’s responsibility to analyze designs and determine which principle to apply to the developing of tpattern in order to ensure that exact replica of the design emerges from the finished pattern.
